faq

> what should i bring with me? water, snacks, a spare inner tube, a tire lever, a tire pump. others on the ride might have spares, but don't be that person, just bring your own. we can't make you wear a bike helmet but don't be an idiot. protect ya neck head. bring cash or a credit card. we might stop somewhere fun.
> am i fit enough? we're gonna be taking it easy. someone will slow down and ride with you. or turn around and go back with you. and we'll stop about every 30 minutes or so for water and to stretch. that said if you've never ridden a bike for an hour or more, this will be a challenge. you can do it.
> do i need a specific kind of bike? we'll stick to mild gravel trails like the rail trail, and roads. you'll be fine. just try to make sure your bike is tuned up and works well mechanically. nobody wants to walk back.
> are e-bikes welcome? sure, as long as it's legal in new york state. just remember to set phasers to stun. nobody wants to chase you down, speed racer.
> do i have to wear lyrca? hell no. you do you. wear what's comfortable. you will see people in lyrca. don't be afraid. some of us don't like a sore butt.
> i dont have a bike but i really want to try this. need a bike? we got a bike for you. road bike, gravel bike, mountain bike, fat bike, skinny bike, recumbent, trike or e-bike. we got you! head to silver birch cycles where monday afternoon our community rides for free. they close at 5pm so go early.

if you want to buy a bike to start riding with us, do yourself a favor and stay away from walmart and other department store bikes. they don't last and can be expensive to repair. for the same or less money the local bike shop can hook you up with something higher quality and used that'll last you years.
> i have a bike but i don't have spares or tools. silver birch sells all that and they're a local business. go support them.
> i don't know how to change a tube. what if i flat? you should probably learn, but don't sweat it, we're a friendly group. someone will stop and help you. please bring your own spare tube.
> i'm a really fast rider. will i be bored? maybe. maybe not. if enough people show up we might split into pace groups. but maybe just chill out and have some fun?
> can i bring my kids? maybe. are they cool? your call on whether they can hang.
> why monday? the tourists are mostly gone, many saranac lakers have monday/tuesday off as local businesses are closed. plus it's a great way to start the week.
> i am a tourist can i come? sure, just be cool.
> are there any rules? don't be a dick.
> is this like an official thing? lol nope. this is just friends having fun. you are responsible for yourself. if you get hurt, that sucks. plan accordingly.
